Xmas Puzzle Review game

It was just two weeks ago that WiiWare got Pinocchio's Puzzle, which I called a surprisingly pleasant puzzler for families. It was a simple point-and-click jigsaw puzzle game with nothing too remarkable about it, but it was good fun overall and I judged it a nice option for anyone wanting to play casually alongside their kids. Now, as December dawns, the same design is back again -- just with a holiday coat of paint applied.

Xmas Puzzle features the same interface and gameplay as its Pinocchio predecessor, but instead of solving puzzles that tell one continuous children's story you're now reassembling the pieces of one-off, standalone Christmas pictures.

You've got scenes of Santa Claus in flight in his sleigh, Santa placing presents under the tree, Santa talking to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and so on. Typical cartoony Christmas stuff, along with a few more realistic selections like the three wise men riding camels to Bethlehem.

Once again the puzzles get harder the further you go into the game, and there are a dozen different puzzles to solve. Each one is playable with up to four players simultaneously, so you can pass along extra Wii Remotes to your spouse, your children or your visiting relatives in town for the holidays to all come together and help pass the time until dinner's ready. The low-key, orchestrated background music matches the spirit of the season too.

The Verdict

It's still nothing revolutionary, but this Christmas-themed pack of digital jigsaw puzzles is once again a pleasant choice for Wii-owning families.

Zombie Gunship Survival Cheats: Tips, Tricks & Strategy Guide

Zombie Gunship Survival is original, innovative and highly addictive. With great gameplay and visuals that really make you feel that you’re in a world ravaged by zombies, this is definitely one of the best free mobile games we’ve played in recent times. And we’re here to try to make your experience even better by sharing with you some Zombie Gunship Survival cheats and tips in a complete strategy guide.

There are many things to consider when playing a game as complex as ZGS and we’re here to make sure that you keep everything accounted for. So let’s not waste a single second and let’s check out below some Zombie Gunship Survival tips and tricks!

1. Constantly work on upgrading weapons
Keeping the weapons upgraded is extremely important for the success of your missions. Focus first on the main weapon you have equipped. I consider the 5.56 Machine Gun as the best option early on. So focus on it first and invest the most there because that’s your main weapon against the zombies. Then, if you have spare parts, go for the secondary weapon and finally your soldiers’ weapons, because they will use those the least in the game if you do a good job.

2. Level up & Fuse
The best part about upgrading weapons is that when you reach a certain level, you can fuse them and increase their power and star rating. The first level when you can fuse, for example, is 10. The best part about fusing is that you don’t need a max level weapon in order to do so. This might change in the future, so make sure that you fuse your main weapon as much as possible when it’s easy to do so.

3. Your Base Guide
Building a great base and defending it properly will help you get further, faster than others. Defending your base is a mission that you can go for every 4 hours and it’s something that you should always do because it’s easy resources.

Repair all buildings on the base as soon as you are allowed to do so in order to have as many things in the way of the zombies as possible. If you level them up, it’s even better because they will keep the zombies busy for longer. But focus on leveling up your headquarters first in order to unlock more buildings, then slowly work on leveling them up as it is a costly process.

When defending your base, a solid design is needed. Try to keep an eye on the zombie nodes as that’s where your enemies will come from. Build barricades to prevent them from advancing easily, then place the towers behind the barricades, but in front of the three buildings you must defend. Then keep an eye on everything from your plane and take out zombies as you do in a normal mission. Your three main buildings have a ton of hit points anyway, so defending your base is usually an easy job.

Finally, don’t forget to work on removing the zombie nodes whenever you have the chance. That gives you a huge bonus in battles and makes defending it a lot easier. A good strategy here is to try to remove the zombie nodes on one side, leaving them on a single side. This makes it easier to defend with towers and your own weapons.

4. Attacking Guide
When attacking, always take some time to plan the best route. Sometimes, going near an enemy tower is the best bet, but on most occasions it’s not. The reason why I say that is that these towers will also shoot at zombies, proving extremely helpful for your mission. They seem to target you first and the zombies later, but your soldiers will still enter the buildings even when shot at, so keep the towers alive for as long as they are useful. Usually, I destroy them after looting all the buildings, when my soldiers just sit there waiting for the chopper and getting shot at.

Also take zombie nodes in consideration, as well as obstacles they have in the way. Try to find a route that allows your soldiers to pass without opening big areas for zombies to get through. As long as the zombies have to waste time destroying obstacles, it’s a lot easier for you.

Finally, don’t forget to zoom in and zoom out with your weapon. Remember that there’s a bit of a delay between shooting and your bullets reaching the target, so always have that in mind when aiming.

5. Your Soldiers
Although you don’t have direct control over your soldiers’ movement, you decide what weapons they use. The long range weapons are the best choice in most cases and for most soldiers. But it doesn’t hurt to have one equipped with a shotgun for those moments when zombies get too close.

When in battle, you can also give them some basic commands. You can use the hand icon to make them stop (which is rarely useful, but there are cases when you might want to take out a tower first, for example). You can also rush the arrival of the chopper if you don’t want to loot all buildings for some reason (like zombies piling up) and you can also tell your soldiers to abandon looting a building before collecting all resources. I rarely use these three options and I don’t think you should waste too much time with them either.

6. Complete daily missions & open crates
Make sure that each day you complete the daily missions. They offer solid rewards and are really easy to complete. Also, don’t forget to always be working on opening crates: go for the fast ones when you start playing, then leave the ones that need longer times for those moments when you are away from the game.

These would be our Zombie Gunship Survival cheats and tips. If you have other tricks or strategies that you think other players would find useful, don’t hesitate to share them with fellow readers in the comment section below!

How to Play the First Level from Unravel

Publisher EA releases an extensive trial of puzzle platformer Unravel, granting PC, Xbox One, and PS4 users access to the indie title’s first level, Thistle and Weeds.

Even though 2016 is a year full to the brim with highly anticipated epic-scale titles, there have been plenty of low-key games that have been expected to have a major impact. One of these games is Unravel, a puzzle platformer from developer Coldwood Interactive which picked up rave previews after its unveiling at E3 2015. Now, publisher EA has given those intrigued about the game a real chance to try it in action.

The publisher has now released a new trial for the title, giving the gaming community a taster of the gameplay that Unravel offers up. The trial itself gives users access to the game’s first level. Certainly, this will prove incredibly useful for those gamers who are still unsure as to whether the game is worth its full retail price after its release back in February.

The trial is available to any gamer who is interested, and can be accessed for PC via EA’s Origin platform, as well as on PS4 and Xbox One. However, PS4 owners may well be getting the best trial of the lot. While PC and Xbox One users have a ten hour restriction on gameplay, this same time limit apparently does not exist for the PS4 version of the trial.

Unravel Gameplay
Unravel picked up plenty of plaudits when it was initially revealed, with gamers wowed by its eye-catching art direction. When the game was released on February 9, however, reviews were generally positive but with some glaring criticisms. Citing the game’s lack of innovation and an apparent exploitation of nostalgia, Unravel was unfortunately seen by some as not living up to the hype.

However, the game still has plenty of defenders, and many gamers have found hours of fun in the title. In fact, some may argue that the backlash seen against Unravel upon its release was perhaps unnecessary. Flying in the face of some current gaming trends, Unravel still found some fans through its light-hearted gameplay focus and retro feel, but that development decision may have damaged its critical reception.

This might point towards exactly why EA has decided to release such an extensive trial of the game. If Unravel’s sales and general reception have been disappointing, then giving gamers the chance to check out the game for free could lead to improved word of mouth regarding the title, and therefore hopefully bring in more sales. Whether or not this strategy works for EA, however, remains to be seen.

Unravel is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Tips For Playing Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Shadow of War is a massive game, and jumping into it can feel daunting. Here’s what you need to know to build a lasting, memorable relationship with your new orc buddies.

Don’t worry too much about the story

While you should chip away at the main quests from time to time, especially for the first act of the game, Shadow of War’s story is not the star of the show. Take time to explore the world. Meet as many random orcs as you can, because they will end up being the most memorable part of the experience.

Remember that every death matters

Whenever Talion dies, Shadow of Mordor’s internal clock presses forward. If an orc killed you, they will move up in rank and become stronger. Other orcs out on missions will have their quests resolved, or die in the process. Orcs shift on the totem pole, or learn new tricks. While the game always lets you come back from death, every change that happens as a result is permanent. You can’t just reload an earlier save. So, try not to die...unless you want the nemesis system to work its magic.

Look at your mini-map

Things like quests, Mirian, intel, collectables and more will be denoted here. The minimap also makes things like following orc tracks way easier.

Take back the Haedir towers

The first thing you should do on any new map is track down the Haedir so that you can do its little mini-game. Once you find all the points of interest at the Haedir, it will turn into a fast travel point.

Upgrade your skills

Different play styles will prioritize different skill unlocks, but some abilities are better than others. It’s a good idea to start by getting all the wraith skills. From there, you’ll want Caragor and Graug riding, fire detonation, freeze pin, shadow strike, elven ability, ground finisher, and of course, executions. I particularly love Hammer of Eregion, which freezes any enemy that you vault over.

Check out an orc’s profile

Information is your strongest weapon in Shadow of War. Before you take on any orc, make sure to press the “details” button. Here you will find an orc’s strengths, weaknesses, fears, and immunities. Keep all of that in mind before you head into battle: you don’t want to make the mistake of wasting a powerful move just to find out your target is immune to it. Pay particular attention to vulnerabilities that either daze or heavily damage your opponent, and exploit the hell out of them during battle.

Use your environment

Look around you. What do you see? Make use of it. Every area will have something Talion can weaponize, including fire, spider nests, caragor pens, and more. If your target is immune to any of these environmental elements, it’s still good to be aware of them, because that stuff can harm you, too.

'Boom Beach' Guide: Beginner Tips and General Strategy

Supercell's Boom Beach [Free] was just released worldwide today, and to say the tutorial leaves you hanging is putting it lightly. Kanye can't even drop the mic as hard as Supercell does when it comes to explaining to players how to play the game. Maybe it's because they assume people playing Boom Beach are intimately familiar with Clash of Clans [Free], but Supercell really doesn't leave you any bread crumbs for what to do next after the first few minutes of gameplay.

It makes sense, as I can see tons of crossover between Clash of Clans players and new Boom Beach players, but I figured I'd write up a quick guide for the other people out there like me who never really had Clash of Clans click for them but are interested in giving Boom Beach a try. So, like Clash of Clans, at its most basic level the gameplay loop of Boom Beach involves building a base to defend your resources while attacking enemy bases, both players and NPCs, to capture resources.

As a beginner, the only two resources you'll have access to are gold and wood, and each has a distinctly different function. I feel like in the early game wood is your "main" resource, as it is used for buildings and building upgrades. It feels a little weird to be building military-themed weaponry with wood planks, but, whatever. Gold in early levels is primarily used to recruit troops for fighting, and revealing more of the ocean map to find more islands to conquer. The premium currency is diamonds, which, like most free to play games, are used to speed up timers and fill in any holes with the other currencies you might be missing.

To understand how to properly defend your base, it seems easiest to explain how to successfully siege a base and you can apply the reverse logic to your own island. Assuming you've got your radar built and some of the map revealed, you'll want to be looking for the lowest level NPC island you can find. It seems like picking off low level enemies first is the way to go because there's no penalty for spending tons of time going through effortless opponents. Boom Beach doesn't have an energy mechanic, so even though the rewards might be low(er), slow and steady wins the race.

As explained in the tutorial, you launch your troops on the enemy beach by tapping wherever you want them to go. Initially, all you have access to is the ability to dispatch troops and the artillery shots from your gunboat. Early battles can be a little frustrating because you don't have any control of your units once they leave the boat, as they'll just aggro on whatever they come across first and mindlessly get picked off by sniper towers while they fire away at barrels or some other non-threatening structure. Stick with it, as the tutorial doesn't even give you any hints that flares are coming for your gunboat, which allow you to mark terrain for your soldiers to walk to or buildings for them to attack. Flares are available once you upgrade your base to level 3. Once you get past that initial frustration, things get a lot better.

As you're attacking islands, your priority goal should be keeping as many of your high value units alive as possible. As soon as you get your first heavy gunner you'll realize how much longer they take to replace and how much gold you effectively lose when one of them dies. Comparatively, your riflemen make great cannon fodder as they're both quick and cheap to replace. But, because your heavies are effectively your tank-like soldiers, you'll want to send them in first. The best thing I've found to do is let heavies sponge damage, then shoot a flare if you've bitten off more than you can chew to enemy defenses switch targets to riflemen, then shoot another flare to re-engage.

Tips For Playing Fire Emblem Heroes

Fire Emblem Heroes isn’t a difficult game, but it is confusing to navigate and understand, especially if you’ve never played a game in the series before. Here are some tips and tricks to make the most out of it.

If you haven’t started yet, consider rerolling

This is possibly the most annoying tip on this list, yet rerolling may also be the most important. When you start a new game, Heroes showers you with Orbs, which you can use to summon random characters. If you don’t get anything good on your first go-around (and if you have the time and patience for it) try deleting and reinstalling the game. You’ll have to go through the tutorial again, which might take a couple of minutes, but in doing so, you’ll have another shot at pulling better heroes. Try getting at least one five-star character from the get-go, they’re the rarest and strongest of them all.

Link your My Nintendo account

Hey, it’s 10 free Orbs. Once you link your account, you can collect your Orbs by tapping ‘Home,’ going to the fountain on the bottom right, and then tapping on the blue and silver icon on the top right—it should be glowing.

Play every day

You’ll get daily rewards for doing so, and there are special prizes for logging in on weekends, too.

Choose high-starred units

If you have them, you should go into the battlefield with only four and five star units, even if they’re not your favorite. High rank means the potential for growth is wider, which in turn means performing better in duels. Your waifu will understand.

Compare stats

Two heroes with the same stars, or even the same exact title, will have completely different stats. You should use whatever has the better numbers. You can check both stars and stats by tapping ‘Allies’ and then ‘Edit Teams,’ where you can sort characters by rarity. Select individual fighters to peruse stats.

Bejeweled Classic: Tips, tricks, and cheats

It's an oldie but a goodie, so let's have a look at the original Bejeweled game. Whether it's a throwback for you, or a brand new game app on your phone or tablet, you can't knock a classic!

1. Slow down!

Even when you're playing a game on a phone or tablet, the old principles of strategy and patience still apply. It's tempting to dive in and just start shuffling things around to see your score go up. Bejeweled gives you plenty of playing pieces, so try to think of it like a giant chess board. Strategic moves mean serious points, so take the time to really survey the board before making your move.

2. There is only one rule

Every move you make must result in points. If you try to move a jewel into a position that does not give you any points, the game will automatically return it to the original position. A jewel can only be swapped with one of the jewels immediately next to it. No giant moves across the board here.

Speaking of moves, remember that tapping on a gem won't move it. It will put brackets around it and make it spin, but it's up to you to move it up and down or side to side by sliding it.

3. Levelling up

The bar across the bottom of the screen gives you an indication of how you are progressing through each level. Before you reach double digits in level numbers, you will have reached a six-digit score, even if you're brand new to the game.

With each new level, the basic score goes up by 50 points. The most basic way to score in Bejeweled is by matching three jewels in a horizontal or vertical row. To reach for more points, try to match four jewels; the four will condense down into a Flame Gem, which will carry over into the next level if you don't use it. Matching two Flame Gems creates an explosion, which is rewarding in points, but admittedly it does shake up whatever strategy you may have had in place.

Points can also be earned in less common patterns, like L and T shapes. These are easy to overlook when you're focused on rows of three or four. Pause to see if you can fit them into your strategy when the more obvious matches are hiding from you. If you do make these matches, you're rewarded with a Star Gem, which can be matched with others to make massive gem eliminations since it will also carry over into another level if unused.

How to Play Badminton Better

Want to know How to Play Badminton? Then you've come to the right place! It is fun to play Badminton and not hard to learn. Let me show you...

What is the game all about?

The objective of the game is simple, that is to hit the shuttle over the net so that it lands in your opponent's court before it can be returned. You can hit the shuttle fast, slow, high, flat or low. You can smash it with maximum power or use the most delicate touch shots.

badminton

A rally is started when the shuttle is returned. Each rally begins with a stroke known as the serve. This gets the shuttle into play, and from then on you will be engaged in a battle to outwit your opponent by using strokes which aim to increase your chances of winning that rally.

You can win the rally when:

- You hit the shuttle on to the ground in your opponent's court. - Your opponent makes a mistake and hits the shuttle out of court. - Your opponent has committed a fault according to Badminton Rules.

Like tennis, Badminton can be played in singles or doubles. The diagram below identifies the playing area for each of those.

You shall always start to serve on the right and the player who reaches 21 points shall win the game. Please click here for a more detailed explanation on this Rally points scoring system.

Getting Started

Before you spend any money on the Badminton Equipment, you should get the feel of the game by trying it out. You can try borrowing a racket and a shuttle from a friend or to hire it from sports centers. Wear suitable training shoes and comfortable clothing which allows you to move and stretch with ease.

There are two sides to the racket head, the forehand face and the backhand face. You can hit the shuttle with either of them. Learn how to use the forehand and backhand grips first before you start.

Now, try a few simple strokes with the shuttle before going on court to play a game. Use the forehand grip and practice hitting the shuttle upwards with the forehand face of the racket. Change to the backhand grip and do the same, using the backhand face of the racket.

First try hitting the shuttle high into the air, then hit it more gently so that it stay closer to the racket. Next, hold the shuttle by its feathers with the fingers of your non-racket hand. Using an underarm action, hit it forward over an imaginary net. This is the action you will use when you serve.

Practice this action both on your forehand and backhand. In this early practice you should hit the shuttle with a flat racket face. Later on there will be times when you slice across the base of the shuttle with an angled racket face.

After a little practice, you will be able to hit the shuttle in different directions and to various distances. You can now begin to play badminton with your friends. I am sure you will love the game and want to play more and better.
